I have been thinking of getting a new perfume. For years I have worn Coco Chanel Mademoiselle and I still love it, it feels like me when I smell it and I love that with a little splash in the morning it's still there (just) in the evening. But I think it's time for a change, I'm growing up and want a different scent with which to mark my trail.

So I currently have three contenders (I think) which are as follows:

The 'upgrade' to Coco Chanel. A fragrance I am growing to love. I tried it on before getting on the plane yesterday and enjoyed smelling it throughout the airport and on the flight, plus I love Chanel bottles and fragrances in general.
Ormonde Woman - A fragrance I have heard much about, especially from the very knowledgable Rose and Mrs Trefusis but one which I am yet to smell. I just loved the way they described this scent so I feel I really must try and see if I do like it enough to wear it.

Prada - L'eau Ambree, yummy, heady, musky warm scent. Again I tried this recently and do very much like it. I have liked other Prada perfums before and this one is a winner again. Perhaps a little too much as an evening scent but there was another Prada one which was lighter for daytime I was thinking of.

What are your thoughts? Do you have a signature scent? Can you imagine any of these scents working on me? Do they suit how you imagine me? Tricky I know but I thought I'd ask all the same!

I have to admit I often do choose my perfumes from their prettiness! I am so shallow.

Although I do love the prada fragrances. Maybe I should try out some ugly bottle too!

I don't want to be an eco-bore, but when I was reading Pat Thomas' Skin Deep (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Skin-Deep-essential-toiletries-cosmetics/dp/1905744234/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1268331302&sr=1-1) I was shocked by the chemicals there are in perfume (for some reason I had separated perfume off from shampoo and anti-perspirant and hairspray and all the other things I well knew were chemical-laden).

So, I'm nearly at the end of the two perfumes I have and when I rebuy I think I'm going to read up on brands that don't use nasty chemicals and try them out. I think Jo Wood Organics is supposed to be quite good but not aware of many others - I'll let you know if I find out anything interesting!...

PS - the Jo Wood ones also have very pretty bottles!

Oh perfume posts- how I love them. Those are all good, as is Coco Mademoiselle in my opinion- some perfume bloggers think it is strange but I don't agree, I think it's charming and a great anytime scent.

Have you tried Ormonde Woman? I think that is a wonderful scent and if you had to have one then I would choose that- but tastes differ so get the one you like best.

Also note I have found coco mademoiselle and coco grown up layered together to work absolutely beautifully, though for an evening scent on me.

Good luck! x

oh i like your selection. i am a massive fan of classical, warm, traditional , heavy and "grown-up-perfumes" my sognature scent is ALIEN, which is for sure a strange one, but it works on me and noone ever believes it how different it smells on my skin compared to just on a tissue...

i am also a big fan of Viktor&Rolf Flowerbomb Extreme, which i am wearing quite a lot.
i never tried Ormonde Woman and totally have to check it out!
